SPORTING NEWS
August comes to a close
The second half of August saw a mixture of Icelandic, English and Spanish clients at East Ranga. Having worked our way through a month of low clear and cold water in search of rain; in late August we got it. All of it.
Two Thousand
The fishing has slightly picked up as a few quieter beats started produce a few more fish. We have had a few days of 50 fish as well as a few 35-40. This has propelled us to 2000 fish.
SALMON ALL ROUND
If you compare the ‘headline’ East Ranga catches year on year to 2020, you might think that 2021 is very, very slow fishing! However the quality and size of the fish being landed in 2021 is truly outstanding and certainly makes up in many respects for the sheer volume experienced in 2020.
THE MIGHTY MIDFJARDARA
There was a distinct lack of water in the rivers of the Midfjardara, but despite that the fish were pushing into many of the beats and were frisky.
BE PREPARED
The last few days has been really interesting. We had a team of mainly outright beginners at the lodge and despite only just learning to cast they did really rather well.
THEY ARE COMING
The last few days have been really notable for big fish. We have seen a good number of fish over 100cms and many in the 80s and 90s. We have started to catch the odd grilse but the bulk of fish are multi sea winter fish and utterly stunning
AN EPIC AFTERNOON
Yesterday afternoon was a real treat. We met up with Neal D on beat 7 and in his words he was “a bit down in the bows”. Fishing had been quite slow from coloured water and fish were being caught but just not on Neal’s beat.
FIRST ARRIVALS
It’s been a funny run up to the season this year but luckily we have an incredibly capable team on the ground who have done a frankly incredible job transforming the lodge ready for 2021.
FIRST SALMON FROM Borgarfjörður
The very first salmon caught in Borgarfjörður was landed today. The fish was caught by the acclaimed restaurateur Nuno Alexandre Bentim Servo.
COSMOLEDO FISHING REPORT FINAL WEEK
The closing week of the Cosmoledo 2020-21 season did not disappoint! The nine anglers that joined us this week experienced super moon tides and sadly they lost two days to bad weather but this didn’t stop the team spirit or the energetic anglers.
ALPHONSE FISHING REPORT FINAL WEEK
Four eager anglers descended onto the shores of Alphonse Island to enjoy the final week of the Alphonse Fishing season. Anglers were treated to fantastic weather and tides transitioning from spring to neap.
COSMOLEDO FISHING REPORT WEEK 13 & 14
As the week's progress and the seasons change, we never really know how it will affect the fishing. Week 13 & 14 were excellent weeks despite tough conditions.
ALPHONSE FISHING REPORT WEEK 25 & 26
The weather was great as the tides transitioned from spring tides to neap tides over the two weeks. We were joined by only a handful of anglers but still managed to record some great catches on the St Francios Atoll and Alphonse.

To simplify it now means that the lodges can carry out disinfection on arrival before fishing.
ALPHONSE FISHING REPORT WEEK 17
It has been a brilliant week on Alphonse and St Francois Atoll. A few new friendly faces visited us for the week with Covid-19 restrictions easing up around the world.
COSMOLEDO FISHING REPORT WEEK 7
After a four-week break, the season started up again with some familiar faces and a very excited guide team. The weather was not particularly stable with scattered rain and gusty wind conditions.
East Ranga CATCH STATISTICS 2020 SEASON
