EAST RANGA 7 AUGUST REPORT
The weather. The weather!!!! It has been raining non-stop since the last week of July and the river has been largely in terrible condition. Unbelievably sad for the fishers who have visited in these super prime dates, and incredibly rare to have mid-summer affected by such persistent downpours on the mountains and glacier. The lodge team have pulled out all the stops to ensure our guests have been brilliantly looked after, well fed and ‘watered’, but the fishing has been hugely disappointing, especially given we know lots of fresh fish are running on each tide and even more are holding in the clean side of the water down at Dupos. In the last day the river has come into order and given up some lovely salmon including this phenomenal 96cm male fish for Robert G from Beat 5’s “Drapubakki”.
