EAST RANGA 21 AUGUST REPORT

OK so we now look to have a decent spell of weather ahead. The river is in good shape and fishing 7-11 August was good, averaging 40-50 salmon per day for 16 rods and taking the river past the 1000 mark for the season.

We had another blast of severe rain and howling wind which affected the river 17-19 August, but the conditions are nice now and 35-40 salmon being landed a day, with a decent number of fresh ones still running and the river seeing over 1200 salmon landed for the season.

As we now move into a high tide cycle we should see the penultimate good runs of fresh salmon enter the river, often including some repeat-spawners that left the river in April and May and have fed for just a few months.
