PROVIDENCE FISHING REPORT
The highly anticipated start of the Providence Atoll season kicked off with some truly outstanding results. This week, we were thrilled to host the T brothers, Greg and Niall, along with Tom L, Mark C, and Hendrik A, all of whom brought great energy and enthusiasm to the trip.
After settling aboard the mothership Quo Vadis, the team set off for a blue water session, eager to get started. It didn’t take long before the first sailfish was raised, setting the tone for what was to be an unforgettable week. After several hook-ups, Hendrik finally succeeded in landing his very first sailfish on fly, marking a major milestone in his fishing journey.
With near-glass-off conditions, the weather certainly played its part in making the week’s fishing even more exceptional. This perfect combination of conditions resulted in some truly spectacular catches on the flats. Tom had a particularly great week, landing several GTs and managing two bumphead parrotfish, along with an impressive 54 cm trophy yellow margin triggerfish. His persistence paid off, and his versatility shone throughout the week.
Mark also had a strong start, opening his account with a solid number of GTs, including a personal best—a remarkable 102 cm specimen. He also got stuck into the bumphead parrotfish, adding a 50 cm yellow margin triggerfish to his tally, further showcasing his adaptability and skill on the flats.
Niall continued his tradition of strong results, landing a great selection of GTs alongside his first-ever bumphead parrotfish. His week was capped with three triggerfish, including an epic 54 cm yellow margin triggerfish and two moustache triggerfish, making for a fantastic variety of species.
Greg had an equally brilliant week, landing his first bumphead parrotfish and adding several GTs to his scorecard. Unfortunately, he hooked into and lost a true monster GT on the first day, but the experience didn’t dampen his spirits. By the end of the week, he had a solid haul to show for his efforts.
Hendrik had an absolutely phenomenal week. Following his sailfish, he continued his success with multiple GTs, including his largest at an impressive 104 cm. He also landed five triggerfish, with his biggest reaching a massive 57 cm—an absolute monster by any standard. Hendrik’s week reached new heights when he managed to land six bumphead parrotfish. To top it all off, he achieved a double Super Grand Slam in a single day: two GTs, two triggerfish, two bonefish, and three bumphead parrotfish—a truly extraordinary feat.
In all, this first week of the season was a resounding success, with exceptional catches and memorable experiences that will set the bar high for the rest of the season. We’re already looking forward to the next group of anglers who will join us at Providence Atoll!
