COSMOLEDO FISHING REPORT

This past week on Cosmoledo Atoll was a memorable one, as it unfolded around the dynamics of the neap tides, following the strong tidal movements of the new moon phase the week before. The first part of the week saw large tidal swings that gave way to the calmer, more moderate waters characteristic of the neap tides, which offered some truly remarkable fishing opportunities. The tides remained gentle as the week progressed, creating ideal conditions for anglers looking to target a wide range of species.

The weather for the week was absolutely pristine, with nearly perfect conditions for fishing. The skies were clear, the waters were calm, and the winds were non-existent for most of the week. This made for exceptional fishing from the boat, as the still waters allowed anglers to work their flies with great precision. Unfortunately, on the last day of the week, the weather took a slight turn with a bit of wind and rain in the day. However, this brief change didn’t dampen the spirits of our anglers, who still had a fantastic time out on the water.

One of the standouts this week was Michael H, who had a truly phenomenal time on Cosmoledo. Not only did Michael achieve a personal milestone by landing his very first milkfish, measuring in at an impressive 87cm, but he also managed to catch a stunning 117cm giant trevally in the south western part of the atoll. This is no small feat, and Michael’s success is a testament to his skill and determination. Congratulations, Michael, on an unforgettable week of fishing!

It wasn’t just Michael who was having an incredible time. Richard O and Alisa S both managed to land their very first GTs during the week, marking a significant achievement in their angling journeys. A huge congratulations to both of you! Alongside them, the dynamic duo Pierce & Ross N also caught their first GTs, adding another layer of excitement to the week. Last but certainly not least, Benjamin, Sophie, Jessica, and Max De B all caught their first GTs too, making this week a truly memorable one for the family. Jon & Benjamin De B each managed to land a beautiful yellow margin triggerfish, a species known for its challenging fight and vibrant appearance. Additionally, Jon kicked off the week with a lovely milkfish on the very first day of fishing, which is always a special way to start the adventure. Great fishing, guys!

Not to be outdone, Ross N had an equally stellar week, managing to land two yellow margin triggerfish and a series of stunning bonefish. Ross has certainly mastered the art of targeting a diverse range of species, and his efforts paid off with some remarkable catches this week. Well done, Ross!

Overall, it was an incredible week on Cosmoledo, with numerous personal bests and first-time catches. We’re grateful to each and every one of you who joined us this week. The diversity of species caught, combined with the exceptional conditions, made for a truly special fishing experience. We hope to see all of you back here again soon for another round of exciting adventures on this world-class atoll.
