AUGUST ENDS
As August gives way to September we can look back on a good month of fishing. The cold river and air temperatures have not been on our side but despite this a lovely lot of fish have been landed including a number of first ever Salmon.
The grilse continued to come in good numbers through the teens and early twenties of August. The smolt released from the new pond on beat 6 in 2021 continued to fill up Drapubakki and Efranesstrengur with great results.
We welcomed Martin and Sarah H who won the AST Prize for 2022. They had a fantastic 3 days and it was a pleasure to meet them. They had some excellent fishing and were very grateful to all the staff and guides.
At the close of August we were well over 2500 fish and the beginning of September is when the worm and spinning is opened up. Whilst some rods will continue to fly fish the introduction of worm and spin will see a new dynamic to the fishing. It will be interesting to see how things will progress into September.
